Residual Haunting

When an incident or emotion takes place with such intensity and markedness, it may leave an impression upon space and time and repeat itself for eternity. This recording of an event is usually caused by some trauma but may just be the continuation of a repitition of events. For example, the lonely wife pacing the balcony of the old home, waiting for her husband who never returned from sea or war. Cars and trucks can be residual haunts, and even stagecoaches. These are events, not ghosts or spirits, and are not responsive or interactive. So this means they con not harm you if you think you may have a residual haunting.

IMPRINT (IMPRINTING): It is theorized that events and strong feelings/emotions can leave a copy or record of themselves on places (tunnels, rooms, fields etc) and objects (furniture, buildings, personal affects etc). Most notably this occurs when a sudden and violent death occurs such as a powerful accident, a murder or other crime, a war or battle area etc. The energy that is left can result in a non-intelligent haunting, usually a residual haunting. In these cases people often report seeing and hearing the same thing over and over like a tape playing, rewinding and playing again. Sometimes the event seems to be recorded on the specific location rather than a building, room or object. There have been cases reported where an imprint haunting has occurred in a building, the building is later totally demolished and a new one built (or the area just left vacant) but the haunting still continues. In the situation of imprinting on an object the haunting can follow the object through several owners. This is often reported with items purchased at a yard sale or flea market.

Ectoplasm (Vapors and Mists)

A grey or white colored fog that appears alone or right before the appearance of an apparition. It can move alone in all directions, including through physical barriers. It resembles exhaled breath on a cold day or cigarette smoke and is often erroneously identified in ghostly photography. Originally, the term was used to describe clear jelly-like substance remaining after a seance.

Ghost Lights

White, blue, or yellow lights usually seen glowing in the distance. Unexplained, they are known by different names

Orbs

Small sphere-shaped masses of energy believed to be either the beginning of an apparition or a complete manifestation unto itself. They move on their own at various speeds. Usually invisible to the naked eye, they are the most common anomaly captured on film. However, the majority of orbs in photographs can be explained away by other means such as dust, insects, or camera flaws. A photo of an orb with a light trail behind is rare and considered more reliable. Orbs can be found just about anywhere.

Vortexes

Most often spotted indoors, these swirling funnel-shaped mists show up in photographs with a tread-like quality in the body. These anomalies may be spirits themselves, but it is becoming increasingly believed that it is more likely they are a method of transport between two worlds. They are often seen with orbs but have also been spotted alone.

suc·cu·bus (sŭk'yə-bəs)

also suc·cu·ba (-bə)

[Middle English, from Medieval Latin, alteration (influenced by Late Latin incubus, incubus), of Latin succuba, paramour, from succubāre, to lie under, sub-, sub-, + cubāre, to lie down.]

noun: pl., -bus·es or -bi (-bī, -bē), also -bae (-bē, -bī)

A female demon supposed to descend upon and have sexual intercourse with a man while he sleeps.

An evil spirit; a demon.

The succubus is a demon from legend that supposedly preys on mortal men while he sleeps; a sexual vampire of sorts. The actual name has its origins from late Latin- succuba meaning prostitute, which in turn comes from medieval Latin sub cubaire meaning 'that which lies beneath'. The male version is the incubus (from Latin- 'that which lies above'). There are some sources who claim that the succubus and the incubus are one and the same creature who can change form at will to prey on mortals.

In medieval times, the succubus was seen as a fearsome creature who killed her victims by drinking their breath. This is interesting in that, at the time, the breath was seen as a part of the person's spirit, and in doing so, the succubus was thought to be stealing the victim's soul. Later, the habits of the succubus were deemed of a more sexual than vampiric nature, and this notion probably arose from the change in social climate that saw sexual deviancy as a mortal sin, and so, those who committed such a sin against God, were deserving of their fate in some way.

in·cu·bus (ĭn'kyə-bəs, ĭng'-)

An evil spirit supposed to descend upon and have sexual intercourse with women as they sleep.

A nightmare.

An oppressive or nightmarish burden.

The Incubus have the same basic meaning and goal as the female counterpart Succubus.

Shadow people

Two commonly-reported types of shadow people

Accounts of shadow people typically describe them as being black humanoid silhouettes with no discernible mouths, noses, or facial expressions, though accounts also exist of them being child-sized humanoids or shapeless masses that sometimes change to a more human like form. The eyes are usually not described as being discernible but in some reports glowing eyes are mentioned. The color of the eyes is red Often they are described as staring at the floor.

Generally, they are described as lacking mass, though their specific nature varies from a two-dimensional shadow to a vaporous or distorted three-dimensional form

Their movement is often described as being very quick and disjointed; they may first move slowly, as if they were passing through a heavy liquid, and then rapidly "hop" to another part of a witness's surroundings. Some witnesses describe this movement as though the shadow entities they have seen "danced" from one wall to the next, or as moving around the room "as if they were on a specific track".

Some accounts describe what appears to be the outline of a cloak, and in some instances the outline of a 1930s style fedora hat. This last type is referred to by many alleged witnesses on the Internet as the "hat-man" due to its prevalence among Shadow people sightings. Various depictions and artists rendering have been posted on the Internet.

Explanations for shadow people have been drawn from the fields of parapsychology, metaphysics, cryptozoology, demonology, religion, and the occult:

A creature in an alternate reality whose dimension occasionally overlaps with ours, allowing it to be partially visible.

A manifest Thoughtform (egregore), ghost, or demon created through various means, including negative psychic energy, black magic, or other occult practices; or by an event in which extreme emotional or physical stress/trauma has taken place.

A creature in some way linked to Grey and Reptilian aliens.

An unattended shadow or shade, said in some cultures to be similar to a ghost, a flicker of a life unable to end for some reason.

Poltergeists

Poltergeist Activity: A malevolent, mischievous spirit or form of energy which manifests with characteristics such as strange noises, moving or disappearing objects, and abnormal odors. The word poltergeist is a German word, literally translated means, "Noisy Spirit."

The earliest known reports of poltergeists date back to the ancient Romans. Other poltergeist records can be found in the medieval times of China and Germany. The reports indicate unexplainable events such as throwing dirt, flying objects, awful smells, loud noises, unexplained lights and ghostly apparitions. All of which are very similar to the still ongoing reports of modern poltergeists. Why exactly poltergeist activity occurs has been under debate by experts and scientists for decades. Poltergeists usually begin and end abruptly. The typical incident can last for several hours or several years.

There have been hundreds of independent studies done on poltergeists. A majority of the cases revolve around on individual or "Agent," as they are called. The phenomenon seems to be linked to a type of subconscious psychokinesis (PK) on the part of the agent. The studies have discovered that most of the poltergeist agents are females under the age of twenty who are totally unaware that they are involuntarily directing the poltergeist energy.

While still not much is known about the way that poltergeist work the investigations have uncovered a link between the agents and states of poor mental or physical health. Emotional problems associated with agent personalities are anxiety, hysteria, anger, obsessions, phobias and schizophrenia. In some cases with psychological help to relieve the emotional tensions the poltergeist energies diminish and disappear.

It should be pointed out that while a majority of poltergeist cases revolve around unstable human agents, there are cases where all of the people involved are psychologically stable and don't seem to have any control over the poltergeist energy. These cases remain a mystery. Some paranormal researchers blame them on other supernatural forces including Demon influences.

The differences between poltergeist activity and a haunting can be very hard to distinguish. In the early stages of a poltergeist it may be impossible. Haunts are poltergeists do share basic aspects, (apparitions, strange noises, odors, moving or disappearing objects, etc.).

There are some points that make them very different:

Haunting: Involves the ghosts of deceased human beings appearing frequently in certain places and times.
Poltergeist: May not be ghosts at all. There are theories are that poltergeists are mass forms of PK energy that a living person is unknowingly controlling. In some cases extreme poltergeists activity has been linked to demons.

Haunting: The appearances of spirits in areas known to the deceased before death.
Poltergeist: Can be triggered by a living person's trauma in any location, at any time.

Haunting: Activities are continuous over time, concentrated in the same general area.
Poltergeist: Activities build up over time to a climax and then start over. Poltergeist energies can travel anywhere with anyone.

Haunting: Are not violent by nature.
Poltergeist: Nearing the climax of the energy cycle poltergeists can become dangerous, inflicting both mental and physical terror in extreme cases.

If you feel that you are encountering poltergeist activity don't wait to look for help. Find a priest or local paranormal research group in your area. Some poltergeist cases can be exorcised before they have the chance of becoming dangerous. If you think that the poltergeist is linked to an object in your possession get rid of that object right away. Don't try to move or run away from a poltergeist. It's a waste of time. If the poltergeist is linked to a person or object it will follow right along with you. The best thing to do is seek out professional help as soon as you can. It shouldn't cost you a penny to do so. If you find someone that wants to charge you a fee, look for someone else.

Evil spirits

On the account of the Hindu theory of reincarnation and transmigration of souls according to one's Karma, other kinds of demons can also be enlisted. If a human does extremely horrible and sinful karmas in his life, his soul will, upon his death, directly turn into an evil ghostly spirit,

Demons - Like angels, demons have never lived and also seem to have specific purposes in relation to humans. They are considered evil and serve the will of Satan. They are known for tempting and tormenting humans and can manifest themselves in nearly any form. They are known for thier ability to possess humans (and even inanimate objects) and cause them to act or perform in manners completely alien to their character, including violently. Removal of a demon requires the services of an exorcist, or otherwise someone considered pious and pure of heart. In religion, folklore, and mythology a demon (or daemon, dæmon, daimon from Greek: δαίμων [ðaïmon]) is a supernatural being that has generally been described as a malevolent spirit, and in Christian terms it is generally understood as a Fallen angel, formerly of God. A demon is frequently depicted as a force that may be conjured and insecurely controlled. The "good" demon in recent use is largely a literary device though references to good demons can be found in Hesiod and Shakespear In common language, to "demonize" a person means to characterize or portray them as evil, or as the source of evil.

Definitions and terms used #1

PARANORMAL:

Events above the normal or everyday experiences. Events that can not be readily explained by known conventional reasons and/or commonly accepted science. Not to be confused with Supernatural that implies a deity explanation.

DOWSING (aka DIVINING):

The ability to use a pair of rods (often metal) held in the hands to locate objects, most commonly water. A Y-shaped tree branch can also be used fro finding water. In the paranormal investigation field Dowsing Rods are sometimes used to locate energy sources that could be paranormal in nature.

ECHOLALIA:

A professional clinical word that means to repeat back what you hear. As applied to the paranormal field it means when a ghost or spirit repeats back something you have just said in order to show they are there and are trying to communicate with you. The words repeated back could be EVP questions or just casual conversation. It is not clear why an entity might repeat back your words rather than respond on their own. Perhaps it is easier/simply for an entity to repeat what it has heard rather than form new words

ENTITY:

A generic term used to describe a paranormal object/being that is presumed to be a ghost or spirit. Since no one is yet 100% sure what paranormal objects really are the term "entity" is used as a pronoun to include any and all possible things such as ghosts, spirits, poltergeists, non-human spirits etc.

LOST TIME:

With paranormal ghost/spirit activity it is possible that a small concentrated area of high paranormal activity may briefly alter the physical environment (see Warp) such that time slows down or stops altogether. For example, a person in such an effected area may be in the area for 20 minutes as measured by a clock outside the area. But the person's watch only shows them in the area for 15 minutes. What happened to the 5 minutes difference?

MANIFEST or MANIFESTATION:

The act of an entity trying to make it self appear in our world. Entities are believed to exist mainly as energy with no physical form. When an entity is trying to make itself appear or make it's presence known in our world it is said to be manifesting itself; trying to make itself into some form of physical state.

MIST:

An energy field that looks like a cloud or haze but has a paranormal ectoplasm substance. There may or may not be any particular shape, color (typically white or light colored), thickness, or consistency.

Helpful Information

THESE ARE THE CLASSIFICATIONS AND TERMS OR DEFINITIONS WE USE TO DESCRIBE WHAT WE USE FEEL OR SEE WHEN WE ARE OUT IN THE FIELD. WE DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THEM, WE TRY TO KEEP UP-DATED ON ALL THE TERMS USED BY OTHERS WHO HUNT OR INVESTIGATE SO IF YOU CAN ADD SOMETHING TO THE GROWING LISTS HERE PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT MOST OF THESE HAVE CAME FROM DICTIONARY TERMS AND DEFINITIONS i.e. WIKIPEDIA, ETC.

EVP CLASSIFICATIONS: There are four different classes in which to catagorize your EVPs into. The classes are titled A, B, C, and R, EVPs. The explanation on how to categorize your EVP into the proper class is listed below.

CLASS - A:
For an EVP to receive a Class A rating it must be a very clear voice and everyone that you let listen to the recording agrees on what is being said by the ghost or spirit. Everyone who hears the voice must come to the same conclusion about what it is saying without being told by another investigator. These voices do not need to be amplified or cleared up using a computer, sound editing program but can be clearly heard straight from the recording devise. It does not have to be extremely loud but it must be clear on what is being said. The Class A EVPs are the best voices of the dead captured and are the rarest to record.

CLASS - B:
An EVP that can be understood and most people agree on what is being said will fall into the Class B, category of EVPs. These EVPs might not be understood by everyone who listens to them and might even sound like it is saying something completely different to other people that listen to the recording. This class of EVP might need to be amplified using a computer and a sound editing program before they can be clearly understood. To get a Class B rating the voice must be fairly clear and easy to determine what most of the words are, when analyzing the voice with your computer. This is the most common class of EVP captured!

CLASS - C:
The Class C, EVP will be the worst quality voices that you can capture. It is nearly impossible to understand what is being said even with the help of computer enhancement. These EVPs are often just whispers or mumbled words or might even sound robotic. The Voice cannot be understood but the investigator still knows that it is an EVP because of the fact that no one was talking during the recording session and human sounding voices can clearly be heard in the background noise.

CLASS - R:
In order for an EVP to receive a Class R rating it must have a meaning to it when played in reverse. Some EVPs will have a meaning when played normally and a different meaning in reverse. When this happens it will have two classifications. For example a Class A, EVP with a excellent and clear meaning in reverse as well, would be titled a Class A-RA, EVP. This meaning it was very clear to understand both forward and in reverse. It can not have a Class A-RC beacuse this would mean that it could not be understood in reverse which would not be a Class-R EVP. You may have a Class B-RB or a Class A-RB ect.

Electromagnetic field

The electromagnetic field is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects. It affects the behaviour of charged objects in the vicinity of the field.

The electromagnetic field extends indefinitely throughout space and describes the electromagnetic interaction. It is one of the four fundamental forces of nature (the others are gravitation, the weak interaction, and the strong interaction).

The field can be viewed as the combination of an electric field and a magnetic field. The electric field is produced by stationary charges, and the magnetic field by moving charges (currents); these two are often described as the sources of the field. The way in which charges and currents interact with the electromagnetic field.

Electromagnetic field meters are used to "see" where a spirit is by it using the energy in the room surrounding itself. If one does not have an EMF meter it is not uncommon for one to notice rapid depletion of batteries or to feel drained of their own energy when a spirit is trying to manifest. This is just a quick explaination of what an electromagnetic field is and how a ghost hunter may use an EMF meter in hunting spirits.

Ouija Boards

It is known that many ghost hunters like to use the ouija board as a means to contact the spirit realm. We however do not use them. We feel it is not neccessary for us to use the boards to contact those from beyond but do not judge those who do use them as a tool of communication.

Ouija means: oui- French for yes and ja- German for yes, in the American language. But the board is neither French nor German. The origanal boards was made of wood, planchettes also with felt on the bottom for easy movement, and by a cabinet, coffin maker that is where the rumor of the origanal being made of coffin lids, and the planchette being a nail from the coffin, came about. The creater later sold the patent and eventually Parker Brothers bought and still owns it to this day.

The boards are supposed to be used at night, but you should use caution and sit in a circle possibly surrounded by candles also in a circle, and I do not reccomend that they be used alone origanally they were used with male and female preferred.

Ouija boards are also known as the talking boards or witch boards. They are used for channeling or mediumship contact. The thought that the boards go as far back as the Egyptians when they used them but theirs was a ring or pendulam hung from a thread over a round table with symbols written on it.

We advise anyone who wishes to use, is, or does use the boards regaurdless of what you call it to maintain a safe practice when using them. Keep in mind at all times the paranormal and or the unexplained are just that and should be approached with caution especially when the unexperienced are involved.
